There are more than 5,000 Buddhist temples in Cambodia. Udon Temple is newer, built in 1996. Boys can begin the process to become a monk at 12 years old. Monks must follow 110 rules and cannot be touched. There were priests and nuns who lived at this temple. They have a retirement community there too. We were blessed to have two monks give us a blessing ceremony. They chanted and threw lotus petals to shower us with the blessing. We asked what words they used and our guide said that they prayed for longevity, strength and health. Amen to that!

We visited a village that dates back to the 1600s. This village had been attacked by the Pol Pot regime and many were killed. Today they specialize in silver.

We had free time this afternoon so we took a Tuk Tuk to the market and visited the Elephant Bar inside the Raffle Hotel le Royal. This hotel is where Jacqueline Kennedy stayed in the 50’s.
