Moving Day

We landed in Stockholm mid afternoon after our early morning flight was cancelled. It wouldn’t be a vacation without a few hiccups.

Train Station
Center City

To get from the airport to center city should have been a simple train ride. The main train was not running and the second choice was sold out. So we had to take a more expensive train, which was a direct line. Once we got to the central station we planned to get on a bus to the Skeppsholmen island and our hotel. There were not any signs or information booths to help tourists. We finally found the bus, but they could not take our credit card to purchase a ticket, something about it has to come from a local bank. So we went back into the station and asked a guy working at a Subway to find out where to buy a bus ticket. He pointed to a convenience store just inside the station. Really? That is where the tickets are hidden for tourists. Now we were on a roll and waiting with a ticket for the correct bus, #65. At this point we met two Swedish military men dressed in formal uniforms. They were so nice and welcomed us to town.

Just across the water from our hotel is the Gamla Stan or old town. We went for a stroll looking for a place to get a drink and bar food. This area is quaint and quite Hogwartsesque. We had good food and beer in an Irish Pub in the heart of Stockholm.
