Moving Day

We had a relaxing morning compared to the majority of folks leaving the ship around 3:00 am. After a leisurely breakfast at 7:30 we caught a taxi to the train station. We watched two large cruise ships dock on either side of us this morning too.

Our train to Hamburg was delayed about 30 minutes, but we have boarded and are waiting to depart.

This is a miserable train ride. It is the sauna and milk run. No air conditioning and we are stopping at every little town between Copenhagen and Hamburg. Our arrival time was supposed to be 3:30, but now they are saying 5:05. We usually love trains, but not so much this time. No ice in this ICE train.

On the positive side of things. We don’t have any small children sitting in our car, we have great wifi and we will have plenty of daylight when we get into Hamburg.

The saga continues, when the train stopped they told everyone to get off at Pinneberg. We have no idea where we are, the DB folks just said to wait 7 minutes and another train would come along. Another train came and the Swiss couple we were sitting with got on. It went into Hamburg, but it went to a different station. We waited about 10 more minutes and we got on a train to the central station which was close to our hotel. Yippee!

We were starving by the time we checked into our hotel and we were both up for some German food. The hotel suggested Frau Möller, it is a local hangout and was packed. So we ate Schnitzel and Currywurst at the bar. Both were tasty, especially with a couple of mugs of German beer.

We walked after dinner, just two blocks to the aussenalster or lake. There were many runners, bikers and walkers getting some exercise in before the rain started.
