The weather is perfect and we walked 25,000 steps today to take advantage.

Above are pictures from the annual Asparagus Festival Primavera. We ate bratwurst, white asparagus soup and crepes. The soup was especially good and something we had never had. One of the spargel sellers had perfect English so we talked to him about why the thicker the spargel was more expensive. He said the larger stalks had more flavor which is different from the way we select asparagus in the U.S. We always look for a thinner more crispy size.
Next up was a repeat visit to the Brandenburg Gate. Both times before, there were protests. Today they had half of it closed off to put down fake grass. The other half was open and it was a beautiful stroll down the center of the street.

The Monkey Bar is on the 10th floor next to the Zoo and gives wonderful views of the city. We had their Korean chicken bites and a drink for a snack.
The east side gallery “wall” has had some new art added to the wall since we last visited.

There is a Wall Museum close to the Spree and the wall. It is very sad to read and listen to the accounts of the wall going up. Hard to imagine one day is normal and the next you might not see your grandchild for 30 years.

We asked for a good German restaurant and the one our hotel, Hotel Pullman, sent us to did not let us down. We had sourkraut and bratwurst with some käsespätzle or cheesy German noodles. Yum!!
