Yesterday we left the ship and took the Eurostar to London. It is a 2 hour trip and only about 25 minutes of that is under the British Channel. We are staying in a VRBO in the Clapham area, which is a 30-40 minute commute to the center city.
The last time we were in London with the kids you had to get a card made with your picture for a multi day pass on the tube. Now you can just use your credit card to tap and it works great!

After starting a little laundry, we headed down to the Sondheim Theater to see Les Miserables. We picked out a Thai restaurant called, Modern Bangkok and we highly recommend it.

Unfortunately I booked our VRBO thinking that it had air conditioning. It did not and yesterday was an 89 degree day, and there was not a breeze. This will not happen again, it was a hot night.
Today we slept in, kind of and finished laundry. Then we went to see Buckingham Palace and Westminster Cathedral.

This cathedral we just happened upon and had never visited before. It is really nice and is the largest catholic cathedral in England and Wales. It was built from 1895 – 1903, in the Byzantine style. The mosaics are so pretty and colorful, the windows are not the focus, as in most cathedrals.

While walking to the theater we stumbled into a newer shopping area. The restaurant called “Bill’s” caught our eye, since it’s my dad’s name, so we went in for a snack. Bryan tried their “Chill Bill” beer. We were hoping for a tee shirt, but no luck. Sorry dad.

The show Hamilton was in the theater that Les Miserables was in 25 years ago. The show was great, kind of different watching a show about the British losing to the U.S., in a room with mostly Brits.

The show ended about 5:30 and so with a bit of daylight left we jumped on a train and went to Wimbledon. We walked past the courts and then to the town of Wimbledon. Quaint place with beautiful houses and friendly folks.
