Dublin GameDay Eve

We started the morning in a very neat tidy bar/cafe, Brick Alley Cafe. It is located in the Temple Bar district.

Good pancakes, more like our crepes.

There are lots of fans from both sides. It should be interesting tomorrow to see how it looks in the stands.

Dublin Castle was the seat for the English and then British governments from 1204-1922. It was the residence for the Viceroy and there was much entertaining in the state apartments. Since that time the Presidents of Ireland have been inaugurated in the castle. Many famous people have visited this building,  Benjamin Franklin and JFK from the US.

They will be painting this room with the original paint color. The lady in pink was doing the research to find the right color.

We visited the Hugh Lane Art Gallery.  The work of Francis Bacon was mainly featured, but some other 19th century artists were also shown.

Sometimes I wonder who decides what pieces will be displayed in a museum and why. This was the case in the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

The best lunch spot today. Cooper’s Corner, close to the museum.

One of the top places to visit is the Guinness Brewery. Here are a few fun facts:

1759 – Arthur Guinness founded the brewery

There are 3.4 quadrillion yeast cells in every brew.

The same strain of yeast has been used since 1903.

The yeast is stored in liquid nitrogen at 196° C.

There was a display of different advertising campaigns.

Ending the evening with the pub crawl.
